When you lack heavy multi-mission helicopters to transport special forces to the Sahel, when you lack drones and satellites to permanently cover a theatre, when your only aircraft carrier has to stop for two years for a major technical shutdown, you have to cooperate. It is indeed out of necessity that France is multiplying cooperation in the field of defence and security. To avoid giving up its complete army model, France calls on others for training and equipment.
