Marie-Pierre Cossette et al., « “The tide of participatory research was already gathering momentum”: Institutional support to break down the barriers between science and society », Mouvements, ID : 10670/1.0cbf61...
Public action to strengthen the dialogue between science and society is becoming more widespread and visible. Within this very broad spectrum of interventions by public players, practices of co-production of knowledge are now gaining institutional recognition, thanks to the growing number of measures designed to support them. By comparing the approaches adopted by four institutional players, this analysis highlights the dimensions that unite them—such as their sources of inspiration—and the differing ways in which they are implemented. While the ambiguities of the relationship between institutions and participatory research are not extensively explored in this article, the limits and scope for progress in strengthening science-society dialogue are nevertheless highlighted.
