Résumé 0

In “Thinking about the crisis of contemporary ethics with Kostas Axelos,” Alain Vuillot, Régis Aubry, and Karine Bréhaux propose an approach to ethics based on the work of the philosopher Kostas Axelos. In the field of research into ethics, Axelos’s thought is fairly unknown but is nevertheless suitable for enriching the contemporary debate on the crisis of ethics, on its basis and purposes. His approach to humans and their relationship to the world deeply renews the ethical question in the light of his fundamental intuition: the “play of the world.” The philosophical perspective opened up by Axelos in the field of ethics unfolds by questioning the burden of his metaphysical legacy, by considering the test of nihilism, by identifying a horizon capable of going beyond the latter. His ethic aims at rethinking “the good life” in view of its central intuition (play of the world), thus opening up new prospects for contemporary ethics.
