"The purpose of this study was to modify the verbalbehavior of volleyball coaches during competition.Three beginner volleyball coaches were includedin a formative program that included supervisoryfeedback plus systematic analysis of the coaches´verbal feedback, as well as the coaches´ ownobservations and self-corrections of their behaviorduring the competitive season. The outcomevariable of interest was the verbal behavior of thecoach during timeouts during games, with considerationgiven for two specific dimensions ofbehavior: the type of information provided to theteam and the team to which the coach made reference.The results revealed a change in the verbalbehavior of the coaches, which was principallydemonstrated in an increase in amount of tacticalinformation and information provided about theopponent."
