La psychanalyse a toujours maintenu le corps au centre du développement du fonctionnement psychique. Freud tout au long de son œuvre désigna la pulsion comme l’élément cardinal qui maintient le corps en relation avec le psychisme, et il a considéré le lien psychique au corps comme une partie essentielle de l’épreuve de réalité et de la structure du moi. Pourtant, pour nombre de patients, habiter son corps au sens plein décrit par Winnicott ne va pas de soi. En suivant brièvement le trajet de quelques patients, l’auteure montre que le long chemin pour y arriver passe aussi par le corps de l’analyste.

Psychoanalysis has always kept the body at the centre of the development of psychic functioning. Throughout his work Freud referred to the drive as the cardinal element that keeps the body in relation to the mind, and he considered the mind’s connection to the body as an essential part of reality-testing and of the structure of the ego. However, for many patients, inhabiting one’s body in the full sense described by Winnicott is not straightforward. By briefly following the journey of a few patients, the author shows that the long road to reach this point also involves the analyst’s body.

El psicoanálisis ha puesto siempre al cuerpo en el centro del desarrollo del funcionamiento psíquico. A lo largo de su obra Freud designa la pulsión como el elemento cardinal que mantiene al cuerpo en relación con el psiquismo, y ha considerado el vínculo psíquico al cuerpo como parte esencial de la prueba de realidad y de la estructura del yo. Sin embargo, para muchos pacientes, habitar el cuerpo con todo el sentido como lo ha descrito Winnicott no es evidente. Siguiendo brevemente el recorrido de algunos pacientes, la autora muestra que el largo camino para llegar pasa también por el cuerpo del analista.
