This paper is a summary of the work and discussions of the Thematic Working Group on Mathematics and Language (TWG9). In this paper we provide an overview of the main themes arising from indepth discussion of presentations and through small group dialogues facilitated during the conference. We highlight the diversity and richness of theoretical approaches and research foci that lead to the constructive discussions we have had at CERME13, while identifying new directions in the future work of TWG9.
