Bruno Jobert : Ein Dritter sehr britischer Weg. Giddens und der Wohlfahrtsstaat. Der heute vorliegende Konsens zur notwendigen Anpassung der Wohlfahrtsstaaten an die neue Wirtschafts- und Kulturordnung verbirgt in Wirklichkeit unterschiedliche Strategien. Mit der Untersuchung von vier politischen Essays von Antony Giddens erlaubt der Text, besser die Spezifizität des britischen « Dritten Weges » zu erfassen. Im Gegensatz zu den Neoliberalen unterstreicht Giddens die Notwendigkeit einer neuen sozialen Partnerschaft, einer inklusiven Gesellschaft, die sowohl den willentlichen Rückzug der Reichen als auch den erlittenen Ausschluss der Armen vermeiden würde. Die Vereinbarkeit zwischen diesem Projekt und einer Analyse des « alten Wohlfahrtsstaat », die die hauptsächlichen Analyseinstrumente der Neoliberalen benutzt, scheint jedoch problematisch.
Bruno Jobert : A third highly-British solution. Giddens and the welfare state. The present day consensus on the need to adjust the welfare state to the new economic and cultural context in fact masks contrasting strategies. With the analysis of four political essays by Antony Giddens, this text makes it possible to understand more clearly the specific nature of the British « Third solution ». Against neo-liberals, A. Giddens declares the need for a new social partner, for an inclusive society which would avoid the voluntary desertion of the rich as well as the exclusion forced on the poor. However, the compatibility between this project and an analysis of the « old welfare state », using most of the neo-liberats analysis tools, would appear problematic.
Le consensus actuel sur le nécessaire ajustement des Etats-providence au nouveau contexte économique et culturel recouvre en fait des stratégies contrastées. Avec l'analyse de quatre essais politiques ďAntony Giddens, ce texte permet de mieux saisir la spécificité de la « Troisième voie » britannique. Contre les néo-libéraux, A. Giddens affirme la nécessité d'un nouveau partenariat social, d'une société inclusive qui éviterait aussi bien la défection volontaire des riches que l'exclusion subie des pauvres. Mais la compatibilité entre ce projet et une analyse du « vieil État-providence » qui reprend l'essentiel des outils d'analyse des néo-libéraux paraît problématique.

Con el análisis de cuatro ensayos políticos de Antony Giddens, este texto permite comprender mejor la especificidad de la « Tercera vía », británica. Contra los néo-liberales, A. Gidens afirma la necesidad de un nuevo patrón social, en una sociedad incluyente la que evitaría tanto la deserción voluntaria de los ricos como la exclusión soportada рог los pobres. Pero el balance entre ese proyecto y un análisis del « viejo Estado-providencia », que vuelve a tomar lo esencial de los instrumentos de análisis de los néo-liberales parece problemático.
