Résumé 0

"Within the conditions of production which, in general terms, affect the Hispanoamerican theater of these days, the adaptation of ?canonized? narrative texts deserves special attention. That phenomenon takes part in the discoursive strategy of rewriting , the issue being investigated by the Project Nº 312 (UNSa.). A good example of this is La cándida Eréndira, adaptation made by the Colombian director Miguel Torres, based on the homonymous short-story and other texts by GabrielGarcía Márquez. Beginning from the inverse process of making the new text, that is to sayfrom the analysis of the rewriting work, we will try to corroborate -or refute- the hypothesis offered to explain it:- There are scarce playwrights.- The scant theater that exists has not conflict, often because of its obvious political discourse.- There is an increasing tendency to ?dramatize? the texts of our great narrators because of the consideration that the roots of our identity reside inside them.- The theater productivity in Hispanoamerican is developing by means of the increasingly important role of the director. Our aim is to show that the Hispanoamerican theater rewriting has arisen as a way of promoting a dramaturgy that has not ripened yet, unlike the Spanish production that rewrites due to the exhaustion of the system."
