In Lebanon, 1989 crystallized existing tensions in the country and, paradoxically, an attempt to restore peace: the Taëf Agreement theoretically put an end to the civil war. The various versions attempting to reconstruct the history of this conflict. In the aftermath of the war, the Lebanese myth of a collective identity is fragile, but it did not collapse. The country is not officially divided, even if disparities of various kinds persist.
