This study analyses the impact of the second IPT subprogramme (Roder, Brenner, Hodel& Kienzle, 1996) in chronic schizophrenic patients. The programme intends to improvetheir ability to perceive and to interpret social situations. The sample was formed by 20participants, divided into two groups: 11 in the therapy group and 9 in the control group.Social and clinical measures have been used, as well as an instrument developed for theassessment of Social Perception, as it is defined in the IPT. This instrument has beensensitive to changes in the pre-treatment and post-treatment measures, showing thatschizophrenics patients have improved their ability to perceive and to interpret reality ina more adequate way.
