This Research Note presents an adaptation of the world city network at the Italian national scale and to the logistics sector (Antoine et al. 2017). Leading national logistics service firms are broken down according to internal functional and sectorial divisions, knowledge-intensive activities and hierarchically senior positions. The multi-layer “city-by-firm” network that results seems to be modifying the regional approaches based on territorial principles, which is dominant in Italy.
