Résumé 0

Access to water and sanitation services is a major issue in development. In Brazil, this access has improved in the last twenty years, but the recent objectives of equity and universality in access to basic services, supported by the current Brazilian legal framework, raise the question of evaluating these services. This article explores how Brazil’s national statistics can participate in the evaluation of these services. It also seeks to assess the limits of a quantitative approach based on national statistics, and a possible complementarity with other methods and measures.
