Meng Li, « “Pre-wedding” photos and the coastline for young Chinese couples: the staging of an imagination from the Western world? », Via, ID : 10670/1.1j2x5f
The evolution of the consumption behavior of young Chinese couples is one of the signs of the opening of China and its economy. Western-style pre-wedding wedding photography in particular is one such phenomenon that emerged and formed during this period. This article therefore attempts to analyze the evolution of this practice, in particular the imaginations which underlie it, for Chinese newlyweds. We will see here the link between this practice and the development of tourism, in mainland China and in the surrounding countries, especially in coastal destinations. Our sites for this research are in Shanghai and Sanya in China, and on the island of Phuket in Thailand, where we will also see the spatial and social construction which underlies this cultural industry, through its actors.
