A new generation of Algerian filmmakers has emerged since the early 2000’s. Self-taught for the most part, these directors manage to make films with little means, avoiding official distribution channels and gaining recognition at international festivals. Their films give new life to Algerian cinema, which almost disappeared during years of terrorism.
