Philippe Hourcade, « Saint-Simon’s Written Work, Mémoires Excepted: Publishing Project », Dix-huitième siècle, ID : 10670/1.27392c...
The long story of Saint-Simon’s writings since 1760 is now well-known and well established. The very list of his writings has been clarified. Two very specific periods can be identified and distinguished: the years 1690-1723, characterised by political and even polemical occasions, by urgency; the years 1730, 1740, 1750, devoted to research and peaceful long-term work, during which the final drafting of the Mémoires, twice interrupted, can be seen in all its breadth. This paper presents the project to publish Saint-Simon’s written work, excluding the Mémoires, as it can be consulted mainly in the Diplomatic Archives. Several teams of Saint-Simonists, both literary and historians, should take on this task, which is divided up according to the periodicity mentioned, and which sometimes concerns isolated texts, sometimes massive manuscripts, such as the Additions to the Journal de Dangeau arranged differently or the Notes sur les duchés pairies.
