This study proposes to reflect on certain questions of a discursive nature that go beyond the syntagmatic level (collocation) and concern the phrasing one. Starting, then, from the idea that, within the framework of diathesis, the rearrangement of syntactic actants, their removal or their erasure are closely linked to the structuring of discursive information, we suppose that the semantic and syntactic constraints of Astonishing and irritating emotion, which offer different possibilities of combination, determine the discursive choice in French. Thus, we aim to better understand the impact of the realization or non-realisation of the different actants on the discursive dynamics of the utterance and, accordingly, on the argumentative choices implemented by the speaker in order to express emotions: the example of persuasion by economy (ellipsis, implicit realization or fusion of the semantic actant), and this, from a functional perspective. This study is based on the EmoBase digital journalistic corpus (an Emolex project consisting of 120 M words), and is situated at the syntactic and discursive level: V_emotion to astonish and to irritate. These verbs are studied from the perspective of informational dynamics within the sentence (Van Valin and LaPola, 1997). In the next sections, we will specify our methodology and our corpus. Then, we will systematically examine the syntactic and discursive profile of V_emotion to astonish and to irritate at the phrasal level.
