"Dr. Loftus´ work illustrates experimentallysome of the conditions in whichmemory and beliefs about the past can bedistorted through misinformation.Clinicians should aim to avoid or minimisethe influence of suggestion and tobe aware of the inevitable potential forsuggestion in any therapeutic endeavour.The focus of analysis is upon thepatient´s implicit procedural assumptionsabout self in relation to intimate others,particularly as these become discerniblein relation of the analyst. Where reconstructionof development is considered, thisis usually in relation to internal eventswithin the patient´s mind."
