The link between planning and public health was very strong at the birth of urbanism as a modern dis-cipline but during the last decades it has been not so well-thought-out in policy and practical terms. The School of Architecture of Grenoble (France) leads a programme that aims to add health-related issues in the urban design education, specifically at the master level, in order to provide students with the theoretical and methodological knowl-edge required to develop healthy urban planning practices. This communication sets out the reasons for this new attitude, stemming from a cross-disciplinary research project focusing on health trajectories in which the Grenoble School of Architecture is cur-rently involved. Then provides an evaluation of the outcomes of this new pedagogy, and of the way in which students have integrated health consider-ations fully into their work
