Résumé
The year 1989 belongs without a doubt to the category of world events. Writing a global history of 1989 is a challenge that involves articulating spatial intercontinental distance with the capacity of actors to be aware of the “Planetarity” (Spivak) of historical processes. This article should be understood as a programmatic essay that tries to grasp certain transnational and global dynamics, such as the worldwide effect of the “Gorbachev factor” and the shared historical experience of a “gap in time” on the basis of a multi-situated analysis.
