"In 2003 I was appointed by the UNSecretary-General as his Independent Expert toconduct a study with the support of the Office of theHigh Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR),UNICEF and WHO. The study will provide anin-depth global picture of violence against childrenand propose clear recommendations for theimprovement of legislation, policy and programmesrelating to the prevention of and responses to violenceagainst children. The study will documentthe magnitude, incidence and consequences ofvarious types of violence against children."
