Political equality implies a common denominator that ignores differences. It is then impossible to allocate a specific place to the difference par excellence, the gender difference, all the more so as, historically, the subject of rights has been identified with the male individual. L. B. argues that the concept of complex equality can help solve the equality/difference "aporia" and allows an approach to politics from a new conception of subjectivity integrating the fact that humankind is split into two sexes.
