The article seeks to investigate the phenomenological and epistemological trajectory of the Rückfrage in the work of Paul Ricoeur setting out from its origin in Husserl. Under the initial impulse of an account of the paradoxes inherent in Husserl’s derivation of the physico-mathematical idealities of the world of life, the goal of Ricoeur is then to transfer the method of return questioning to the fields of the historical sciences. However, far from simply applying Husserl’s procedure, Ricoeur in fact invents a new mode of return questioning by introducing the notion of «indirect derivation». Thus it is only thanks to mediations and to specific steps (introducing a plot, testimony. . .) that one can show in what sense the science of history derives from the world of life, (transl. J. L’article prend pour cible la trajectoire phénoménologique et épistémologique de la Rückfrage dans l’œuvre de Paul Ricœur à partir de son site husserlien. Sous l’impulsion initiale d’une exposition des paradoxes de la dérivation husserlienne des idéalités physico-mathématiques du monde de la vie, l’objectif de Ricœur vise ensuite à transférer la méthode du questionnement en retour aux champs des sciences historiques. Loin d’être cependant une simple application de la démarche husserlienne, Ricœur invente en fait un nouveau mode de questionnement en retour en introduisant la notion de «dérivation indirecte».
