Nicolas Tixier et al., « Ambiances and retro-prospective surveys: Or the forgotten ecologies of the southern Grenoble », HAL SHS (Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société), ID : 10670/1.32a44f...
Jean Verlhac Park is located in the very centre of Villeneuve de Grenoble in France. Created by MichelCorajoud in 1972-73 on the site of one former airfield, it features hillocks made with construction rubble andan artificial basin. As marvellous as this park is for its composition, it is emblematic of the recent history ofthe southern part of the Grenoble region, in which every major change to date has functioned as a kind ofconquest of the space that erases almost everything about its previous state. Basing ourselves on thisterritory, we propose to examine how a retro-prospective survey that is attentive to ambiances can be carriedout to reveal and then formulate a narrative of the place. We respond to the challenge posed by thehybridization of different heritage values by sharing representations of this heritage and putting them up fordebate. In order to think beyond a solely urban planning perspective, we are led to investigate what exactlythe very ecologies of this territory consist of.
