This chapter examines the challenges and opportunities posed by the integration of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools in arts education. Based on a study conducted with undergraduate students in the Primary Education programme at the University of Barcelona, the research reveals a widespread use of these technologies, often lacking critical reflection. Participants demonstrate limited awareness of key issues such as ethics, authorship, and data protection. In response, the chapter advocates for a critical educational approach that enables future teachers to incorporate GenAI tools in a creative, informed, and ethically responsible way.
