Four Roman autumns for a springtime of the Church... From 1962 to 1965, bishops from all over the world participated in the sessions of the Second Vatican Council convened by John XXIII in 1959. For the first time, thanks to unpublished archives, Christian Sorrel studies the assembly from the point of view of the French episcopate. He presents its organization and its leading figures. He analyzes its participation in the debates and its role in the reformist majority.
