Résumé 0

In order to consider the multiple uses associated with urban and peri-urban ponds, the production of quality indicators for these ecosystems needs to be conceived as an interface between research and action. PULSE the Peri-Urban Lakes, Society and Environment research program is developing a transdisciplinary and participatory approach to assess the quality of water bodies in the highly urbanized Île-de-France area. We show the interest of these water bodies, then discuss the diversity of knowledge, value criteria and management actions mobilized by the actors in order to define the “quality of urban water bodies”. We then show how transdisciplinarity contributes to devising innovative characterization systems adapted to the regional specificity of these areas. These regional characterisation systems, however, do not exclude the need to refer to universal and normative quality criteria for both scientists and managers.
