Résumé 0

“The formal signifier: origin and evolution of a creative concept.” The author revisits the history of the concept of the formal signifier – from its precursors in the Freudian work, to the inspirations drawn by D. Anzieu on the work of his contemporaries, this concept carries, in its very essence, intersubjectivity. The formal signifier has been taken up again in psychoanalytic literature since the 2000s, thanks to work in perinatal care and research on forms of primary symbolisation, and has been extended to the clinic of groups and families in thesis and publications, the results of which are presented here. The article reinterprets this concept, which is sometimes difficult for clinicians to access, in order to shed light on the understanding and considerable clinical richness of formal signifiers in the approach to forms of reactivation of traces of traumatic experiences in PFT.
