"The correlations between scientometric indices, macroeconomicvariables and results from attitude polls in differentcountries were explored. The results show that a minimumthreshold of economic development (around GDP per capita of1000US$) is required for science and the economy of a countryto interact. Above that threshold, a positive interaction can beobserved between economic development, scientific developmentand tolerant moral-religious attitudes. The way these interactionsoccur remains to be uncovered."
