This paper examines the strategic movements that drive the industrial owners and stakeholders of the bibliographic and bibliometric platforms that are an integral part of the scientific communication and research assessment from the perspective of the recently proposed concept of surveillance publishing. Algorithms, data collection and data analytics are at the heart of the techno-industrial logic of these conglomerates, which rely on merging and cross-sector concentration strategies, supported by platformization. This issue is a blind spot, both for Information Science interested in understanding the dynamics of the forms of production of scientific knowledge, and for the Communication Studies interested in the relational dimension of digital infrastructures.

Cette communication examine les mouvements stratégiques qui animent les acteurs industriels, propriétaires des plateformes bibliographiques et bibliométriques qui font partie intégrante du marché de la communication scientifique et de l’évaluation de la recherche à l’aune du concept de surveillance publishing, proposé récemment dans la littérature anglo-saxonne. L’usage des algorithmes et la collecte des données sont au cœur des logiques techno-industrielles de ces conglomérats qui ont recours à des stratégies de concentration inter-filière, appuyées à la plateformisation. Cette question est un angle mort, tant pour le versant Information Science intéressé à la compréhension des dynamiques des formes de productions des connaissances scientifiques, que pour le versant Communication Studies intéressé à la dimension relationnelle des infrastructures numériques.
