This brief account underlines the main aspects of what Plato conceives as the πολιτικ πιστὴµη : it is a mathematical craft and science, the subject matter of which is the citizens’ souls and ways of life. It also underlines the point that Plato has promoted this political science to the upper echelon of all knowledges, identifying it with philosophy and giving it a mathematical foundation.
