A Conversation with Jean-Yves JouannaisJean-Yves Jouannais, art critic, is now devoting himself to inventing an Encyclopédie des guerres, spanning the Iliad to 1945. He is thus committed to imagining the chapter on war, “Polémologie”, absent from Flaubert’s Bouvard and Pécuchet. This literary project turned life project takes the shape of monthly conferences in Beaubourg (Paris) and at the Comédie theatre in Reims. The book, which will never be written, and published even less so, can thus be dreamt there, directly, and through improvisation.

Jean-Yves Jouannais, critique d’art, se consacre dorénavant à l’invention d’une Encyclopédie des guerres, de l’ Iliade à 1945. Il s’est ainsi engagé à imaginer le chapitre « Polémologie » absent du Bouvard et Pécuchet de Flaubert. Cette entreprise littéraire devenue projet de vie, prend la forme de conférences mensuelles à Beaubourg (Paris) et au théâtre La Comédie (Reims). Ce livre qui ne sera jamais écrit, encore moins publié, y est rêvé en public, en direct, de manière improvisée.
