Résumé 0

Sick building syndrome is a collective disorder whose symptoms are nonspecific. Its etiology remains unclear, and this uncertainty can be stressful. The complexity of these crises, which have remained unexplained for several decades, led us to offer research hypotheses concerning the representation of the environment, social dynamics, the communication process, and management of uncertainty. We present a case study that we have conducted with the personnel in an educational institution going through a health crisis. The results of the content analysis of our semistructured interviews are discussed dialectically and organized into five topics : (1) representation of risk and environmental stress, (2) representation of the location and causal attribution, (3) representations of illness and conditions involved in recovering from it, (4) uncertainty and rumors, (5) communication and management.
