The Libellus a regula sancti Benedicti subtractus is a Hispanic version of the Rule of St Benedict for a women’s house in Northern Spain in the 10th century. Different written traditions are contained in its Latin, some of them coming from the European versions of St Benedict’s Rule and others from the Hispanic tradition. The writing of this document in La Rioja explains, in addition, the presence of the attesting notary’s Basque name.
