Christophe Pons, « Religious Competitions in Cape Verde: How does Islam question the role of religion in the public sphere? », HALSHS : archive ouverte en Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société, ID : 10.22409/antropolitica.i.a61950
The text examines the impact of the resurgence of religions as one of the main conclusionsof the late 20th century. Initiated at the turn of the 1990s, this phenomenon gave fullmeaning to the term “globalization.” As a result of widespread transformation, virtuallyevery society in the world experienced a proliferation of transnational missionarymovements from various global religions, often competing for small territorial shares.Faced with this increase in the competition of “independent religions” – those not tiedto states and distinct from established religious traditions – governments often foundthemselves surprised, forced to improvise.
