We compare Quesnay’s Tableau and Leontief’s Table, by exploring the passage from the first to the second. The economic concepts of Quesnay are examined in view of the notions and the rules applied in modern national accounting. A transposition of the Philosophie rurale accounts into an input-output Table turns out to be possible, under two different forms, one of these corresponding to Quesnay’s Tableau. In spite of that countable transposition, Leontief’s model stays away from Quesnay’s approach, which had a greater ambition.
