Henriette Asséo, « L'intelligentsia romani, l'histoire et le romipen », Études Tsiganes, ID : 10670/1.4iip8e
The gypsy world-view, known as Romipen, constructs a complete person who is not excluded from History; this approach has rendered the vitality of the romani language exceptional. This point brings justice to the romani intelligentsia’s political and moral engagements. Through these examples, we will examine the different modes of historicisation of romipen. For the Sinte of Occidental Europe, the intellectual formula was genealogical and dynastic; for the Roma of Central Europe and Russia, the adhesion to the hope of revolutionary change was translated by the consciousness of the necessity to reconcile the integral vision of romipen as well as the dynamic of the political action.
