Résumé 0

The mediatization of politics could challengeestablished political processes and has thepower to transform the relation betweenpolitical parties and candidates, on the onehand, and voters, on the other. Mass mediaeffects on political processes have been for along time the focus of interest for academics. This article analyses the content of electoralmaterials used during two European Parliamentelection campaigns (2014 and 2019)focusing in particular on the coverage of valuesrelated to national identity. Interestingly, the quantitative analysis showed that the importanceplaced on issues related to nationalidentity depended largely on the time whena particular country became a member of theEuropean Union and differed considerably betweencountries located in different parts ofEurope.
