Archaelogists sometimes have the occasion to discover in graves inscribed plaques or objects, qualified as endotaphs. Apparently paradoxicam, because bearing the nominal or social identity for the deceased in a human communication thwarted by the manner of their use, these endotaphs appear to act in Medieval Christian culture, as the material and graphic expression of eschatological expectations.
