Résumé 0

French Jews in the battle against “White Slavery” (1880-1930)In the battle against white slavery, the French Jewish community was slow to react, and timid when it did. As opposed to other Jewish communities in Europe and the United States, no specific organization to help Jewish victims of white slavery existed before 1910. Before this date, Jewish notables who were involved in the battle against white slavery did so through participation in secular associations. When the Jewish anti-white slavery association was finally created, it was tried to create links with the secular groups that were already active in this cause. On a day to day basis, the association rescued young girls who were isolated or in difficult situations rather than real victims of white slavery. It furnished these young girls with educational and moral support that conformed to the bourgeois values of the day.
