The current study focuses on gender agreement within the determiner phrase in the first stages of acquisition of Spanish as a third language by Basque/French bilingual children. Our objective is twofold: (1) to investigate the effects of variables usually related to gender, with special attention to morphophonology, the use of a default gender and the analogical criterion, and (2) to explore crosslinguistic influence through the most commonly studiedfactors in the field of TLA, namely, typology, use and order of acquisition. We present the results of a written picture description task that is part of a larger, longitudinal study.
