Marges Arides de la Syrie du Nord : maisons et villages de terre

Résumé En

A dozen of sites dated by the pottery from the fifth and sixth centuries were drawn through the survey conducted by the mission of the Arid margins of northern Syria. Although largely erodate, these remote settlements, hamlets and villages are in a state close to that of their abandonment. The reading of outcrop remains allows the identification of a stereotyped habitat: mud houses with stone foundations are organized in agglomerations of variable size, but are all designed on a simple scheme in which several contiguous rooms open onto a courtyard. The standardized design undoubtly reflects in type of roofing.
