Data fromurban and rural stations are analyzed for the year 2020 in four cities in the state of Mato Grosso (AltaFloresta, Sinop, Sorriso and Vera), in the southern Brazilian Amazon. The cities have populations between11,000 and 146,000 inhabitants and urbanized areas that extend between 376 and 7861 hectares. In thesefour cities, the most significant temperature difference is observed at the beginning of the night during thedry season (from May to September), showing the hourly and seasonal dynamics of the urban heat island.The urban-rural difference also seems to increase with the size of the city.
