This study shows how an alternative genre in young adult literature in the digital age impulses a diversification of representation for the construction of queer individuals. It delves into the evolution of the codes in young-adult literature in the digital sphere with the exploration of evolving notions such as the adaptation of literature to different media, the evolution of the relationship between author and reader, the creation of online communities, and the freedom in the creative process. This study explores the construction of queer identity in Alice Oseman’s work to shed light on the importance of a diversity of journeys, local identities, and the importance of allies. Finally, this study questions the activism in Heartstopper through the representation of heterotopia opposed to queer literature centered around schemas of resilience.
