Anna Rosellini, « The Dictatorship of the Sun: The Invention of the Brise-Soleil and the Model of Carthage », HAL-SHS : architecture, ID : 10670/1.5216xq
In the work of Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, the house for Lucien Baizeau inaugurated the chapter on research into the climatic function of domestic architecture, which would become one of the main themes of the modern architecture of Le Corbusier’s followers around the world. After the prototype for Villa Baizeau in Carthage, other projects by Le Corbusier and Jeanneret for the coasts of North Africa would form the cornerstones for perfecting the devices of a bioclimatic architecture to come, of which the two versions of the project for the Villa in Carthage appear to have been at the epicentre in the mid-1940s.
