Résumé 0

This study investigated the relationships between social norms for women (especially being a “good mother” and “good housewife”), parental guilt, and self-regulatory behavior at work. Based on a survey of 326 women professionals in France, we found that these two norms are positively and significantly related to parental guilt, but not directly related to self-regulatory behavior. Parental guilt is significantly and positively related to self-regulatory behavior, and it significantly mediated the relationships between these feminine social norms and self-regulatory behavior at work. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.
