If scientific research aims to the knowledge of the real it nevertheless has recourse to varied discursive shapes (description, narration, modelization) which participate to a significant rearrangement of the given. The object of the research is an object built or more precisely worked - in the meaning of fingere - in an intellectual project. Knowledge is not only to seize or to elucidate the world by an action of objectivation which scientific language would be the instrument or the mark, it is also to reconfigure the world, to transfigure it in writing so as to the meaning occurs. It is more particularly from this point of view that the role of fiction can become clearer as a cognitive tool and find its productiveness in human sciences. In keeping with the following of The philosophy of as if from Hans Vaihinger, this contribution invites to circumscribe a field of epistemological relevance for fiction and leads, in fine, to envisage heuristic link between an epismotology of the verifiable and an epistomology of the possible

Si la recherche scientifique vise à la connaissance du réel, elle n’en recourt pas moins à diverses formes discursives (description, récit, conceptualisation, modélisation) qui participent d’un réagencement significatif du donné. L’objet de la recherche est un objet construit ou plus exactement façonné – au sens de fingere – dans un projet intellectuel. Connaître, ce n’est pas simplement saisir ou élucider le monde par un acte d’objectivation, dont le langage scientifique serait l’instrument ou l’empreinte, c’est aussi reconfigurer le monde, le transfigurer par l’écriture afin que le sens advienne. C’est notamment de ce point de vue que le rôle de la fiction peut s’éclairer en tant qu’outil cognitif et trouver sa fécondité dans les sciences humaines. En s’inscrivant dans le sillage de La philosophie du comme si de Hans Vaihinger, cette contribution invite à circonscrire un champ de pertinence épistémologique pour la fiction et conduit, in fine, à envisager une jonction heuristique entre une épistémologie du vérifiable et une épistémologie du possible.
