Résumé 0

Based on the private archives of the Belgian educator Ovide Decroly (1871–1932), leading figure of new education, this article explores how this pedagogue built educational spaces inside and outside school. One objective of this article is to show that this Belgian educator was not only famous for having founded several schools, but he was also the organizer and administrator of non-school educational facilities (orphanages, children’s communities, farm-school). The history of this set of “Decrolian” institutions makes it possible to highlight the role of educators who form a “Decrolian sphere” and also specifies how these educational spaces aimed to prepare a reformed society.
