Résumé 0

The authors were invited to co-design and co-organise a seminar on transcultural clinical practices, in collaboration with psychologists, in Houphoët Boigny University in Abidjan. Ivory Coast is a broadly multicultural country where 70 languages are spoken, where animist and monotheistic cultures are widely represented, and it is a country receiving numerous migrants. Transcultural clinical practices are how-ever absent from the psychotherapies on offer in this country. The seminar made it possible to explore and define the cultural aetiologies of misfortune, the lasting consequences of colonisation and the issue of the therapeutic offer in a cultural universe where those who believe in invisible animist entities are in the norm, and those who do not believe in them are outside.
