Résumé 0

Over the past twenty years, the Senegalese Shia community has sought to expand its presence and its partners in the Arab world. Since 2010, thanks to the actions of the international Shia Mazdahir community, groups of Senegalese students converted to Shia Islam have traveled to Iran and Iraq, specifically to the cities of Qom and Najaf to attend their theological training centers, called Hawza-al-ilmiyya. Here, they follow a program of religious education that is unavailable in Senegal. This article focuses on the Senegalese Shia students, examining their lives and their integration into Iraqi society. It aims to demonstrate the crucial role played by the Najaf Hawza in training the future elites of the Senegalese Shia community.
