As the Democratic Party is undergoing a thorough recomposition in the aftermath of the Clinton presidency, Trump represents a formidable opponent in the context of the 2020 election. While the programmes of the radical candidates of the party, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, echo the presidential rhetoric regarding the improvement of the situation of the American middle classes, the Democrats do not have anything in common with Trump on the issues of immigration and identity. Donald Trump will try to force a radicalisation of the Democrats during the campaign, so as to harm them at the ballot box.
